Daydreams

When you realize that you were lost in thought, or daydreams,
is it just a trick of memory, or perhaps of ego,
that makes you feel that "you" were daydreaming?
In fact your body and senses were fully functional.

When I realize that "I" have been daydreaming
I usually feel frustration, regret, and remorse
in having violated my prior commitment
to be mindful.

I hope not to hope
but to change my habit of feeling
that I am my unmindful egocentric memory
of thinking and daydreaming!
